No set of Rosario Castellano's works paints a clearer picture of her intellectual and stylistic development than her short stories. In them, her style is enhanced by her perception and intelligence, as she writes about the social, political and gender concerns which characterize her work. In Ciudad Real (1960), Los convidados de agosto (1964) and Album de familia (1971), the reader meets one of the keenest sensibilities of the twentieth century. In addition to containing the complete texts of the three volumes of short stories published during Castellano's lifetime, this collection also includes three stories never before published in a single volume: "Crsnica de un suceso inconfirmable"' "Primera revelacisn" and "Tres nudos en la red."
